Over 50 pc reservation to economically backward says BJP
Jaipur, Oct 08: BJP is committed to provide over 50 per cent reservation benefit to the economically backward classes without disturbing the existing quota for scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and OBC categories, party president Venkaiah Naidu today said.

A constitutional amendment will be made within a year besides the setting up of the national commission to invite suggestions from all states and safeguard the interests of SC/ ST and OBC, he told reporters here.
The opposition parties, including the Congress, were misleading people as if the BJP was trying to change the percentage order of reservation already in force, he alleged.
Whether there would be a constitutional amendment first or the national commission would come in action first to seek representation from the quota seeking classes, Naidu said it was to be decided by the Central government soon. Bureau Report
