Bhopal, Sept 21: Kicking off BJP`s election campaign, Deputy PM L K Advani, Union Minister Arun Jaitley along with six others will address election rallies in different parts of Madhya Pradesh today. Also, Congress Election Committee`s two-day meet begins in here today whereas Mayawati will address BSP`s maha rally here.
BJP`s rallies come against the backdrop of Rae Bareli court`s framing of charges against party`s star campaigner and chief ministerial candidate Uma Bharati in Babri Msjid demolition case. While the Opposition will try to grill Bharati on this issue, latter is bent upon cashing on the Ayodhya issue for electoral gains.
Also, Congress Election Committee`s two-day meet will begin here today. During the meet, list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in November will be finalised. Incumbent Congress party is leaving no stone unturned to counter BJP on various fronts including the Ayodhya case.
Besides, BSP leader Mayawati will address a maha rally in Bhopal today. BSP is trying to broaden its Dalit base in Madhya Pradesh after Uttar Pradesh. Recently, Mayawati stepped down as UP chief minister after her name was included in controversial Taj corridor project and BJP broke ties with her party. As of now, Mayawati is maintaining distance from both BJP and Congress but electoral mathematics may see her landing in either coterie during coming elections. Bureau Report
