Patna, Aug 17: The Rashtriya Janata Dal today took a DIG at deputy prime minister L K Advani for defending Pramod Mahajan and sought immediate resignation of Mahajan from the union ministry for ensuring free and honest probe into the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case.
By describing the allegation against Mahajan as baseless, Advani has made a "sinister bid" to influence the initial course of investigation by Delhi Police, RJD spokesman
Shivanand Tiwari said here.
Advani had yesterday said that the statements of Madhu Sharma against Mahajan were baseless allegations against a valued colleague and a malicious campaign unleashed by vested interests to derail the probe which was on the right direction.
"Advani's submission gives a clean cheat to Mahajan and Delhi Police which is under the Union Home Ministry will certainly be influenced,” Tiwari alleged. Referring to allegation of Komal Sharma, the younger daughter of prime accused R K Sharma, that Mahajan was intimately involved with Shivani, Tiwari said that a person like Mahajan who claims having a clean image should agree to the suggestion for undergoing a dna test to prove Komal's allegation as false.
He advised Mahajan to resign from union ministry to ensure a free and honest probe.
