Malappuram, (Ker) Sept 25: President A P J Abdul Kalam today advised the student community to inculcate the habits of righteousness and leadership quality to develop a 'beautiful India.' "These are the two characters every student has to imbibe to achieve success as where there is righteousness in heart, there is beauty in the character," he said delivering the convocation address at the Calicut University campus here.
"Where there is beauty in character there is happiness in home, order in nation and peace in the world," he said calling upon students leaving the universities to ask themselves "What can I give to the society?"
Quoting a couplet from Tamil epic 'Tirukural', that begins 'Vellathanaya Malarin...'' and 'Idumbai Parrapar..,' Kalam said they conveyed the message that whatever be the challenges, a man was bound to succeed if he had a goal to achieve like a lily flower always coming out to blossom whatever be the depth of the river, pond or lake and the condition of water.
Pointing out that a successful leader could never be defeated, he said every human life should have a goal to achieve characterising indomitable spirits.
