Patiala, Oct 27: Noted Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi
appeared before the Patiala police here today in connection
with the case of alleged illegal human trafficking against him
and four others.
Daler, who arrived here at around 10.45 am was stuck up
in a large crowd, raising slogans against him, near the Sadar
Police station.
A large number of people, including political activists
of different parties, blocked the way of his self driven
Mercedes vehicle near the police station.
After a struggle of about half an hour he could wade his
way through the crowd to be inside the station at about 11.20
am.
Daler presented himself before the police amidst initial confusion as some sources claimed that the singer would present himself before a court as per reported directions of Delhi High Court whereas some other sources maintained that he would have to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case. A case was registered on October six against mehndi, his brother Shamsher, who is already in judicial custody, and three others after one Bakshish Singh, a resident of Belwara village in the district alleged that he had paid Rs 13 lakh out of the Rs 15 lakh demanded by them for sending him abroad with a musical troupe, which was not done.
