It`s toe-tal concentration in toe wrestling

England, June 42: This might look like quiet old England... but in the middle of
the country there's something toe-tally bizarre going on...
It's the 10th annual World Toe Wrestling Championship and it's
not an easy feat.
Each player has to keep their non-wrestling foot off the
ground, while part of their bottom must stay on the ground.
They have to force their opponent's foot to touch the footrest
earning them a "Toe Down".
Best out of three wins.
The president of the event says the game started when some
local sports fans got fed up that England wasn't excelling
athletically.
President of the event and the first ever World Toe Wrestling Champion, George Burgess, said, "It's started with a group of walkers that were disillusioned by the fact that England had again lost a world championship or test match or something and they thought what could we be world champions at? And they put their heads together and... came up with toe wrestling".
To prove its worth the game was registered as an international sport.
And it's not to be sniffed at -- so serious is the event that a qualified nurse is always on hand and an examination ensures no competitor is carrying any contagious foot infections.
These are the feet of the four-time men's champion Alan "Nasty" Nash.
He says the sport is popular because anyone can enter.
The four-time champion Alan "Nasty" Nash "You haven't got to go to any special school or special training camp and you can walk in on the day, enter and win the world champion".
But when it came to the finals, the popular reigning champion was challenged by the other crowd favourite from England the "Toe-minator".
It was a tough competition, but in the end Nasty's toe was knocked over and the "Toe-minator" won.
The woman's champion was also home-grown, as opposed to in-grown.
So the Toe Wrestling crown continues to be held by the English.
Although, toe-morrow is another day.
