Bhopal, Nov 21: Accusing congress of "brazen violation of poll codes", Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley today said BJP has complained to the Election Commission about the alleged "misuse" of Punjab government aircraft and the national flag by Congress for election campaign. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had used state government aircraft during his election campaign tour of Madhya Pradesh in gross violation of the model code of conduct, he told reporters here.

Stating that government aircraft and vehicles are not allowed to be used for election campaign even on payment, Jaitely said that BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission about it and "we expect a prompt action".

Though political parties in general have been abiding by the poll code, Congress has shown brazenness in misuse of government officials as also official machinery for election purpose. It is a very serious matter, he alleged.
Jaitley alleged that Congress, in its campaign advertisement on TV, has "misused the national flag lowering its dignity as also violating the flag code. Congress is free to use its own flag for campaign...Definitely not the national flag which has its value and significance."

He charged congress with being "anti-development".

Asked about a recent congress statement on disinvestment based on a report in a Hyderabad newspaper, Jaitley said the opposition party "has no issue and hence is raising things based on newspaper reports and not on the basis of facts."
