Jammu, Nov 17: Defending some of the steps taken by his government to bring about peace in Jammu and Kashmir, chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that he would endeavour to evolve consensus at the national level for restoration of peace with dignity in the troubled state.

"All political parties at state and national level are conscious of their responsibilities and none of them can afford to err. We are bleeding and an opportunity has been thrown up by recent elections to end the bloodshed by applying a healing touch,” the Chief Minister said winding up a meeting of the district development board at the border town of Rajouri this afternoon. "We can't miss the opportunity and if we do so, the country misses it too,” Sayeed said at meeting adding that the the nation is watching the steps being taken in the state.

"Many things are being said in the country, may be with an eye on Gujarat elections. I don't want to create any hype," he said. Bureau Report
