Washington, Sept 29: The United States will come up with a second version of the UN resolution for expanding role for the multilateral agency in Iraq "within the next two days." "Within the next two days we'll come up with a second version of the resolution, based on the consultations we had last week, we'll get to share that with our friends on the Security Council," Powell told Sunday talk shows on two different television channels.

Powell said he could not put a time-frame for the passage of the UN resolution. "I can't tell you when the resolution will be passed, I'm anxious to move quickly because we have the donors' conference coming up at the end of October," he said.

He said he was not sure whether the new resolution would generate more troop support for the us in Iraq, but "we will have to get the resolution. And there are some nations who have said the resolution will be helpful, but they'd consider sending troops even without the resolution."

On Iran's alleged nuclear weapons programme, Powell said Tehran had to adopt the additional IAEA protocol they had been asked to accept. Bureau Report
