Srinagar, July 21: Jammu And Kashmir Rural Development minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who escaped a bid on his life earlier this month, today said he suspected the hand of senior superintendent of police, Anantnag in the attack but said the government would wait for the inquiry report before taking any action.
"I had planned to visit Larnoo village in Kokernag area on July 2 but on the advice of the concerned police officer I undertook it on july 4", Sayeed told reporters at his residence here. Sayeed said he was under the impression that the SSP of the district was accompanying him to the village where militants attacked him with a grenade. "We later found out that he (SSP) was not accompanying us to the spot where I had gone to inaugurate a higher secondary school and a primary health centre. I came to know that he had left the spot half an hour before my arrival", he added. The minister escaped with minor injuries in the attack during a visit to his Kokernag constituency which left three persons, including his security guard, dead and 26 others injured.

Sayeed said an inquiry had been ordered into the incident which is expected to submit its report within a month after which we will decide on what action to take.
