Shimla, May 31: The killer of Padmesh Kaur, a close relative of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, was remanded to police custody till June 5 by a local court here today. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Shimla remanded Dhiren Walia to police custody. Walia was intercepted and arrested at Kandaghat, 32 km from here, a short while after he killed 50-year old Padmesh, sister of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General Randhir Singh at a forest rest house in tutu near here, yesterday. Walia reportedly claimed that there was no intention behind the murder and it was an accidental fire, police said adding they were not convinced by his claim.


Police said they were working on various theories to ascertain the motive behind the murder.


Meanwhile, the body of Padmesh was handed over to a close family friend Gurvir Singh after postmortem and sent to Delhi for cremation. Randhir Singh, who was in London had requested the police to handover the body to Gurvir Singh as he was not able to reach Shimla immediately.
