Chandigarh, Nov 10: A high-level delegation led by British Columbia (a province of Canada) premier Gordon Campbell called on Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, here today. They discussed various issues of mutual interest, which included forestry, agriculture, culture, agro-processing and handling, education and information technology, an official release said.
Gordon Campbell highlighted the similarities between Haryana and British Columbia especially in the fields of advanced technology, agriculture and tourism. He offered to help the state in becoming pollution free in which his country had achieved cent per cent success.

He appreciated the role of Indians, especially the people belonging to the northern region who had set up large and small units in British Columbia and were residing there for the last four generations.


Campbell invited Chautala to visit British Columbia and see for himself the speedy development taken place there since his last visit in 1991.


Chautala said that though Haryana was basically an agrarian state, steps were being taken for rapid industrialisation by adopting advanced technology. He said that Faridabad and Gurgaon towns of Haryana were fast emerging as the major Centres of information technology. Bureau Report
