The callers from as far as Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi, Gujarat and Hyderabad are not only profusely thanking him but expressing their desire to meet him. They are expressing their impression of the man as “You are next to God”, “How can we thank you”, one caller from Benaras said, “If I had a helicopter, I would right away fly to your place and meet you to thank you”. Meet S Ahmed (36), employed with a private firm, who was one of the first survivors to mobilise a small group of volunteers and start the rescue operation. He even offered water to one or two dying patients trapped in the Hyderabad-Bangalore Kacheguda Express which derailed near Ramlingaipalli in Kurnool district on midnight of Friday. Eight bogies were derailed and 20 people were killed and 80 injured in the accident. But for the presence of mind of Ahmed, who jumped out of his upper berth in S4 coach when he heard a strange noise, many injured survivors would have gone through more sufferings.
