Chennai, Nov 24: A beaming Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa today thanked god for the Supreme Court verdict
clearing her of all corruption charges in the Tansi land deal
cases and said she had faced many trials and tribulations
during her life time.
"It is all god's will. Thanks be to god," the AIADMK
supremo told reporters outside her Poes Garden residence here
soon after the apex court upheld the madras high court order
acquitting her in the two Tansi land deal cases.
"At the moment I can only think of one thing to say --
thanks be to god. Trials and tribulations are part of one's
life and I have faced many trials and tribulations," she said
on her return after offering worship at the Vadivudai Nayaki
Amman temple at suburban Tiruvottiyur.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa, accompanied by her close aide
Sasikla, who was also cleared of the charges in the cases,
drove straight to the temple on hearing about the supreme
court verdict and performed special Pooja to the deity.
A large number of Jubiliant AIADMK cadre, who had thronged roads leading to the Poes garden, celebrated the victory of their supremo by bursting crackers, distributing sweets and raising slogans in her praise.
Jayalalithaa's cabinet colleagues, senior party leaders, MPs and MLAs were present to greet her when she emerged from her house draped in a dark green saree, her favourite colour.
