Coochbehar (WB), Aug 19: Forward Bloc MP from Coochbehar Amar Roy Pradhan today said there is a possibility of involvement of Pakistan's ISI into Saturday's attack by Kamtapur Liberation Organisation ultras on CPI-M members in Dhupguri. "Though it has been reported that KLO militants are involved in the Dhupguri incident, the probability of an ISI link behind the attack should not be ruled out," Roy Pradhan said in a statement here.
Referring to the attack in CPI-M's Dhupguri party office in Jalpaiguri district in which five persons were killed and 12 injured, the local MP said "the CPI-M has been under attack as it is spearheading the movement against secessionist forces and is the main driving force of the left front."
Meanwhile, senior RSP leader and MLA from Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district Nirmal Das urged chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee to visit this part of North Bengal to have a first hand account of what was going in the name of raids, combing operations and security measures. The 12-hour CPI-M-sponsored Coochbehar bandh paralysed normal life in the district today, official sources said.
Besides other Left Front partners CPI, RSP, FB, the CPI-ML (Liberation) and party for democratic socialism also supported the bandh.
Reports from neighbouring Dooars area, falling under Jalpaiguri district, said work was disrupted in tea plantations as well. Bureau Report
