Pondicherry, July 19: Pondicherry administration has said that it would seek Central assistance in implementing a Rs 60 crore e-governance project covering 16 departments. Pondicherry chief minister N Rangasamy today received a report on 'road map' for implementation of e-governance project prepared by IBM Consulting Services India.

He told reporters here that his ambition was to provide a transparent, clean and people friendly administration.

This could be achieved through e-governance system of administration. The project proposed by the government would be implemented in a phased manner and would go on stream fully after three years.
B Vijayan, development commissioner of Pondicherry, said that the three pronged components of the report covered core, common and specific areas of applications.

The 16 departments would include Rajnivas, assembly, PWD, health and education departments. Necessary software would be got ready for inter-departmental network and also for people to department networks, he said.
Ravi Trivedy of the IBM Consulting Services India said e-governance was a supplementary effort of the government to provide administrative facilities for the people.
