Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the state administration in view of Monday’s ''Jharkhand and Bihar bandh,'' called by the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC).
The bandh has been called in protest against ''police atrocities'' in the two states and the us-led attack on Afghanistan. State Director General of Police (DGP) T P Sinha said the administration had beefed up the security measures and sounded a red alert in the state to prevent any lawlessness and disturbances.
Meanwhile, former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav is will be in Jharkhand this evening to surrender before a CBI designated court on Monday in connection with cases related to the fodder scam. This will be his first surrender after bifurcation of Bihar last year and the third before the judiciary in connection with the scam. Earlier, Mr Yadav had surrendered and was subsequently remanded to judicial custody in regular case 20(a) and 38(a), the two conspiracy angle cases of the scam.
The RJD supremo would also address a rally of the party workers in Jharkhand on Sunday.
Mr Yadav is surrendering in connection with regular case 47(a), a major conspiracy case of the multi million fodder rupees scam which deals with fraudulent withdrawals to the tune of over Rs 180 crore from the Doranda treasury. Mr Yadav is one of the 33 accused against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued in the said case. Altogether 102 people were accused by the CBI in its partial chargesheet filed in July this year.
