Bangalore, Aug 26: The ruling Congress in Karnataka today flayed BJP for demanding imposition of President's rule in Maharashtra in the wake of twin bomb blasts in Mumbai, saying that the Centre could not escape its responsibility.
Speaking to reporters here, KPCC president B Janardhan Poojary said that the intelligence of both the central and state governments had failed but it was not the time to make demands for resignation.
If the resignation of the state government could be demanded, then the NDA government at the Centre should go first, he said.
Poojary said that when Parliament was attacked, Congress did not seek NDA government's resignation and added that attention in Mumbai should be on maintaining peace rather than making such demands as "resignation will not solve problems".
He said that the party strongly condemned the blasts "whoever was behind it" and no effort should be spared by both Central and state governments to bring the culprits to justice.
