Junagadh court convicts top IPS official in 29 old case
Ahmedabad, Sept 30: A Junagadh district court today sentenced additional director general of police (training), S S Khandwawala to five years` rigorous imprisonment in a 29-year old case.
Ahmedabad, Sept 30: A Junagadh district court today sentenced additional director general of police (training), S S Khandwawala to five years' rigorous imprisonment in a 29-year old case.
Khandwawala was then Dy Superintendent of Police, Junagadh, when a court ordered inquiry under Section 202 of IPC for beating up a prisoner, who received serious injuries, district official sources said.
The inquiry was ordered by the court on a complaint lodged by the prisoner.
The court has also given one month's time to the official to file an appeal.
Senior officials in state capital Gandhinagar are having a high level meeting to take stock of the situation.
