Fort Worth (Texas), Sept 10: American Airlines has said it was "disappointed" by a court ruling that will allow plaintiffs to proceed with a lawsuit seeking damages for the loss of family members in the September 11 attacks. American Airlines is one of the defendants named in the suit, along with United Airlines, Boeing -- the company that built the four jets hijacked on September 11 -- The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey -- a public entity that owned the twin towers -- and airport security firm Argenbright Security, Inc.
"We continue to believe that we are not liable for the events that occurred that day," said American spokesman Todd Burke, referring to the hijackings of the two American jets. "We will continue to contest liability and we will pursue an immediate appeal to the second circuit court of appeals," he added.
Burke said that his company believes the federal fund set up to compensate families of the victims' was "the fairest, most efficient method for compensating these individuals." Bureau Report
