Pune, June 14: Taking a serious note of the severe stress on the police force, Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today set up a committee to look into policemen's problems and suggest recommendations. Shinde's announcement assumes significance in the light of recent incidents of reckless behaviour by policemen, including gunning of his superior by a CISF jawan and a city police official committing suicide after killing his family members. "Suicide, shooting and incidents of other reckless behaviour on the part of the policemen do not augur well and hence I would personally look into it and set up a committee to see what can be done to prevent the stressful conditions," Shinde said after inaugurating `Pune Police Public School'. Low pay-scale, perks and untimely and prolonged hours of duty put the lower rank policemen into severe stress and hence the issue should be addressed with urgency, he added. Bureau Report
