TRAI constitutes committee to implement TDSAT`s ruling on V5.2
New Delhi, Oct 09: As directed by the telecom tribunal, TRAI has set up a committee to look into technology and switches to be used by basic operators offering WLL mobile service in order to ensure that limited mobile services remained distinct from cellular services.

The committee would be headed by D P S Seth, member TRAI
and would have two more members -- Prof V K Dande, chairman of
IIT Kanpur and V K Gupta, additional secretary in CSIR.
While delivering the judgement on cellular operators' petition on usage of switches by basic operators, TDSAT had asked government to constitute a taskforce to go into the details of technology to be used by the operators.
"As per the direction of the TDSAT, we have constituted a committee which would go into all these details," TRAI chairman Pradip Baijal told.
Asked about the terms of reference of the committee, Baijal said it was for the purpose of implementing TDSAT's recommendations. Bureau Report
