BSNL to offer global roaming from Feb 14
Patna, Jan 31: Public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has said it will introduce international roaming on its cellular services from February 14.
Patna, Jan 31: Public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has said it will introduce international roaming on its cellular services from February 14.
''BSNL will offer international roaming in 164 countries from February 14,'' BSNL chairman and managing director V P Sinha told reporters here after reviewing the company's performance in Bihar and Jharkhand last evening.
Earlier, BSNL had announced it will introduce long distance facilities from February 01.
Sinha said under an expansion programme, BSNL had floated global tenders for 1.5 crore mobile and 30 lakhs fixed wireless in local loop (WLL) connections.
Free time call would be allowed to local subscribers of BSNL who were subscribing to mobile services continuously for six months or more, he added.
Sinha announced that in view of increasing demand, additional 63,000 and 40,000 cellular connections would be released soon to Bihar and Jharkhand respectively.
The number of telephone subscribers had increased from 2.5 crore five years ago to 6.5 crore now. The share of BSNL was 4.5 crore, while other players provided two crore telephone connections, he added. Bureau Report
