Raipur, Nov 04: Opposition parties in Chhattisgarh
today appeared before the election commission and charged the
Ajit Jogi government with gross violation of model code of
conduct alleging that the collectors and SPs were working like
`agents' of the ruling party even as the Congress termed all
allegations as baseless.
The delegations of ruling congress and the opposition
parties like BJP, NCP, CPI and CPM met Chief Election
Commissioner J M Lyngdoh and Election Commissioners T S
Krishnamurthy and B B Tondon and handed over memorandum
demanding action against each other.
After meeting the commission, BJP leaders Brij Mohan
Agrawal and Ajay Chandrakar told reporters that they asked the
commission to remove both the Bastar and Jashpur District
Collectors L N Suryavanshi and B S Anant respectively from
their responsibilities during the December one assembly polls.
Handing over a 28-point nine-page memorandum, BJP also
alleged that the SPs and collectors are working like `polling
agents' of the Congress and are trying to corrupt the election
process besides attempting to influence the voters.
Almost all the political parties raised the controversial
school bag issue and demanded action against the guilty.
