Two kgs of RDX and two hand grenades, part of a Pakistani consignment which was buried near a madrasa for two years, were seized by a Delhi Police team from a village near Muzaffarnagar on Thursday, police sources said. Acting on disclosures made by Abdul Majid, a pakistani militant belonging to Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami who was arrested from north-east Delhi on February six, a team of the inter-state cell of delhi police crime branch recovered the explosives from the Palari village, they said.
According to police, one Mufti Kifaitullah, presently based in Pakistan, had given the consignment to Majid who in turn passed it on to Abdul Aziz, Maulvi of a local madrasa in Palari village for safe keeping. Not knowing what was in the bag, the Maulvi buried the bag when Majid did not turn up to collect it, a police official said.
Investigation into the alleged ISI connection in the case have begun, police added.
