Marvel has announced that the 36-year-old British star will reprise the role of Howard Stark on the show, reports suggest.

Although Hayley Atwell seemed to have confirmed Dominic Cooper's involvement in Agent Carter, the studio only validated the news yesterday.

The actor will star alongside Atwell's Agent Peggy Carter on the ABC show, with the pair's characters having first appeared together in the movie 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and then 'Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter'.

The spin-off series is set in 1946, with Peggy dealing with the loss of Steve Rogers while finding herself cast to the side when the men return from World War II.

Cooper also joins Shea Whigham, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj and James D'Arcy on the series.
