Mumbai, May 19: The State Bank of India (SBI) today handed over a cheque of Rs 20-lakh towards the chief minister relief fund to mitigate the hardships confronted by farmers in drought-hit areas of Maharashtra. The cheque was handed over by SBI's chief general manager, Mumbai circle, a Ramesh Kumar to Shinde at his Mantralaya office in south Mumbai today. SBI's Mumbai circle has provided drinking water in the drought-affected areas under Pune and Aurangabad modules supplying water through tankers. Eleven districts of Maharashtra have been reeling under severe drought from last year resulting in acute shortage of fodder for the cattle along with drinking water problem. SBI, as a corporate citizen, has always been in the forefront to extend its helping hand towards the noble cause and their contribution would help in mitigating the hardships of the farmers, an official release said.
