Washington, Dec 17: Seeking to take forward its global campaign against terrorism, the US has said it would go for strategic collaborations with India and countries of southeast Asia to combat the menace.
Asking southeast Asian countries to do "everything they possibly can" to root out terrorism, US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said America was discussing signing of Memoranda of Understanding on counter-terrorism with countries including India. "It is clear to me they take the view that we (United States) should do what we can to assist them where they would like assistance," he told reporters in Australia. "That is the basis of having Memoranda of Understanding on counter-terrorism with Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and prospectively with the Philippines and possibly also India. We have been talking about collaboration with India as well," Armitage said. Bureau Report
