Chennai, July 22: In the wake of Supreme Court's suggestions, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa today chaired a meeting with her cabinet colleagues and officials on the steps to be taken by the government on reinstatement of nearly 1.70 lakh dismissed government employees. Though there was no official word on what decision was taken at the three-hour meeting, sources said the meeting was likely to be resumed tomorrow.

Coming down heavily on the Tamil Nadu government employees for resorting to a strike and "holding the state to ransom," the supreme court yesterday suggested that the state government "show magnanimity and grace" in taking back the dismissed employees on their tendering unconditional apology for participating in the state.
