China is continuing to ship weapons of mass destruction materials to Pakistan despite the recent imposition of US sanctions against a state-run company, reports said. According to a ‘Washington Times’ story, US intelligence agencies tracked a shipment of material used in making chemical weapons in early September. It was said to be a ''dual-use'' precursor chemical for Pakistan's chemical-arms program. The ‘Times’ said officials did not identify the Chinese state-run company involved in the chemical transfer but said it was one of several companies that had been involved in earlier chemical-arms related transfers.
Detection of the latest shipment came after the September 1 sanctions imposed by the Bush administration on a Chinese state-run company for supplying missile technology to Pakistan. The transfer involved material for Pakistan's Shaheen-1 and Shaheen-2 missiles, both of which are considered nuclear-capable systems. Bureau Report
