President to meet Kanchi seer today
Chennai, June 19: President APJ Abdul Kalam will meet Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi on Thursday for 30 minutes during his visit to the `mutt` at Kanchipuram, nearly 70-kms from here.
Chennai, June 19: President APJ Abdul Kalam will meet Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi on Thursday for 30 minutes during his visit to the ‘mutt’ at Kanchipuram, nearly 70-kms from here.
President, who arrived in the city yesterday on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, would inaugurate a post graduate block and M.E. Programmes of Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (deemed university) at Enathur near Kancheepuram, an official release said here.
Kalam`s programme also include interaction with students of the Ramakrishna Mission students` home, participation in the 151st anniversary celebrations of the government museum and inauguration of "Peterson Cancer Centre" at Vijay Health centre. He will also address the faculty of Anna university and its affiliated colleges at the univeristy premises.
Later, the President would visit Sivananda orphanage at Kattankolathur, about 40 kms from here.
After a brief stay at the Raj Bhavan on return to the city, the President would leave for New Delhi by a special aircraft in the next evening.
