Vishnugad project to be completed within five years: Tiwari
Dehradun, Apr 08: Uttaranchal chief minister N D Tiwari today hoped that the 340 mw Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydel project in Chamoli district would be completed within five years and said that it would be a major step in developing the power sector in the state.
Dehradun, Apr 08: Uttaranchal chief minister N D Tiwari today hoped that the 340 mw Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydel project in Chamoli district would be completed within five years and said that it would be a major step in developing the power sector in the state.
He said that unlike the previous projects, less people would be displaced from their lands for the Vishnugad project. However, he asked the authorities to ensure their proper rehabilitation is provided to the displaced persons, an official release said.
A Memorandum of Understanding was today signed between the Uttaranchal government and Tehri Hydro-power Development Corporation (THDC) for the construction of the 340 mw Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydel project in Chamoli district.
The MoU was signed by state principal secretary (power), O P Arya and chairman and managing director of THDC, M L Gupta here in the presence of the chief minister.
Tiwari said that his government was ready to co-ordinate with public and private sector power companies for a speedy development of the power sector in the state.
The 340 mw Vishnugad hydel project would be a multipurpose project, to be built on river Alaknanda in Pipalkoti village of Chamoli district, at an expected cost of Rs 1800 crore. Bureau Report
