Jammu, June 25: Over 94 thousand pilgrims out of a targetted 1.12 lakh have so far registered themselves for the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on July 12, official sources said here. The sources said 94,720 pilgrims were registered for the yatra in Lidder Valley of Anantnag district in south Kashmir since the registration began 10 days ago.

In next one or two days the quota of 1.12 lakh would exhausted, the sources said adding there existed an additional quota of 10,000 people.
Last year, 1,10,793 people visited the cave shrine, the sources said adding a record 1,73,334 pilgrims visited in 2000, followed by 1,49,920 in 1998.
This year one more Route-Baltal has been thrown open for pilgrimage apart from Pahalgam-Chandanwari main route, the officials of tourism department said. Bureau Report
