Cabinet okays prevention of Money Laundering Bill

Government on Tuesday approved the amendments to the prevention of Money Laundering Bill 1999 which will be placed before parliament this session.
The Union Cabinet, which met in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, approved the amendments as presented by the select committee of the Rajya Sabha.
The amendments will be moved in the current session, parliamentary affairs minister Pramod Mahajan told reporters after the meeting.
The prevention of Money Laundering Bill was first introduced in the 12th Lok Sabha on August four, 1998. The bill was reintroduced in the 13th Lok Sabha on October 29, 1998 and was passed by it on December two 1999. Bureau Report
