Washington, Apr 25: A prolific panty pilferer with a penchant for thongs was caught red-handed in the United States after scoring nearly 1,000 pairs of women's underwear. Anthony Scholfield, 22, was apprehended Sunday in Menomonie, Wisconsin, in a house he admitted breaking into after a burglar alarm alerted police. The responding officers found Scholfield in the basement and said in their arrest report that they found some of the bedrooms unkept with beds unmade and dresser drawers pulled open.
At the police station, Scholfield was not found to be carrying any but his own underwear but admitted he had broken into homes on two other occasions, moved items around and took panties ''as a practical joke'', the officers said.
In a search of the college student's apartment, officers found 854 pairs of women's underwear, many of them thongs, that were stuffed in dresser drawers, bags, a briefcase, a shoebox, even a Pokemon lunch box.
‘'Call it a panty raid if you will,'' Scholfield wrote in a statement to police. ''No harm intended, just a little practical joke.''

He was charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of criminal damage.
