New Delhi, July 16: Fissures show no signs of being bridged in the 25-party Hurriyat Conference as the fire-brand Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani is adamant on his demand for expelling Peoples' Conference from the conglomerate.
The Jamaat leader has again criticised the amalgam for failing to live upto the expectations of the people of the state and accused the new Hurriyat chairman Maulvi Abbas Ansari of "hiding the truth under the veil."
Indicating again he might leave the amalgam to float his own party, Geelani told "I have already decided about myself and it is for the people to follow the path of principle."
The Jamaat leader, during his July four rally at Sopore in north Kashmir, had indicated his intention of forming a new outfit on the pattern of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Geelani, who has been on warpath eversince his release from the prison where he was detained under Public Safety Act, said that Hurriyat needs to be exposed as they have time and again failed to display their sincerity for the people of the state.
People's Conference, on the other hand, accused Geelani of being an "idelogical nightmare" for the people of the state and charged him with having entered into a "conspiracy with the government to split Hurriyat."
As the war of words and hurling of accusations continue to increase, it seems that it would not be an easy going for the new chairman to keep his flock together, feel several of Hurriyat insiders.
