Kochi, Sept 21: Trashing the criticism of the CBI by the Congress and Left parties for the Rae Bareili court discharging the Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case, the BJP today said it was intended to 'build pressure' on the agency to continue the 'polititcal prosecution' against senior BJP leaders. Dismissing the charge that CBI had buckled under pressure leading to Advani being discharged from the case, BJP president Venkaiah Naidu said the investigating agency was not under the home department which perhaps those voicing the criticizm were not aware of. Describing the opposition charges as 'absurd' and 'politically motivated', Naidu told reporters here "it was a pressure tactic against CBI to proceed further". The case was "politically foisted, born out of political considerations prompted by the vote bank politics", he said.
Naidu said the BJP did not need 'lessons' from the Congress and Left parties on "political morality. We know about their morality", he said. The cases, which were already there even before the BJP-led NDA government came to power had not been withdrawn even now unlike the Congress which had "the tradition of withdrawing cases against it," he said.
