Raipur, Feb 22: Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu today said there was ''no substance'' in the speculation that senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptullah may soon join the BJP. ''There is no such proposal either from our side or from her,'' he said while talking to reporters here at the Mana Airport before leaving for Rajnandgaon to address a public meeting there.
He was replying to questions about media reports stating that Heptullah has given indications on the possibility of her joining the BJP.
When his attention was drawn to media reports that there was a resentment among the rank and file over the entry of D P Yadav into the party fold, the BJP chief said Yadav had maintained that no criminal case was pending against him.
''As far as the criminal case against his son goes, the law will take its own course,'' he added.
To another question about politicians and film stars joining the BJP ahead of elections, Naidu made it clear that no assurance was given to anyone, including film stars, about fielding them in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
''I can assure that 99 per cent of the seats will go to active workers,'' he added.
Asked about Congress president Sonia Gandhi's 'road show' in Uttar Pradesh, Naidu quipped, ''Why should we worry about it. She is making efforts to see the country for the first time.'' Bureau Report
