Centre alerts WB following Ghatkopar blast
Kolkata, July 29: The West Bengal government today sounded a state-wide alert following a message of caution from the Centre in the wake of the blast at Ghatkopar in Mumbai yesterday that left four persons dead.
Kolkata, July 29: The West Bengal government today sounded a state-wide alert following a message of caution from the Centre in the wake of the blast at Ghatkopar in Mumbai yesterday that left four persons dead.
''We have received an alert note from the Centre,'' chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee told newsmen here this evening.
Stating that alert had been sounded in all the districts, deputy IGP (headquarter) narayan ghosh said that steps had been taken to maintain vigil in all long-distance buses and trains, besides the bus and railway stations.
Additional vigilance has begun in the areas dominated by Kamtapur Liberation Organisation militants in North Bengal along with the areas where naxal outfit People's War is said to be active, he said.
The BSF has been alerted for intensifying patrolling in the border areas and state police officials were coordinating with the BSF authorities on the exchange of information.
Ghosh said that the state police control room was monitoring the situation continuously.
