New Delhi, May 31: A city court today denied bail to sacked DDA vice chairman Subash Sharma and alleged tout Dharambir Khattar facing allegations of conspiring to get a favourable judgement in a case pending before the Delhi High Court. "The accused if released on bail at this stage of investigation, may cover the tracks and hamper investigation or blunt the effectiveness of the investigative process," special judge Prem Kumar said dismissing their bail plea.
Citing transcripts of recorded telephonic talks between Khattar and Sharma, the court said "the manner of talks" between them "show that they are very thick with each other."
The court took note of CBI's plea that it was yet to examine many witnesses from DDA office, who had worked under Sharma.
Khattar, according to CBI, had communicated to Sharma of co-accused and former high court judge Shamit Mukherjee's desire to have DDA's counsel in that case replaced.
The conspiracy to remove Mittal also becomes clear from the notings Sharma made by Sharma to the effect that one Rakesh Munjal was to be engaged in her place, the court said.
Meanwhile, the court also denied bail to Khattar in another case, wherein he allegedly conspired to show undue favours to a private school society by bribing DDA officials to extend the lease on a land leased out by the authority.
