Etawah, Sept 19: Alleging that the Uttar Pradesh government`s decision not to issue a fresh notification in the Ayodhya demolition case was "violative of the Constitution", Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today sought Supreme Court`s intervention in the issue.
"The BSP-BJP coalition government`s decision not to issue a fresh notification in the case is violative of the Constitution. It has now become imperative that the Apex Court take the lead to protect the Constitutiion of the country," he said, addressing a function near here. Yadav accused Mayawati of "betraying" the Muslims by her decision and warned that she would have to pay a "very heavy price" for this.

"You (BJP) rule the Delhi and we (BSP) rule the state" equation appeared to be the guiding factor` behind the Chief Minister`s decision, he said.
Meanwhile SP general secretary Amar Singh said that it was regrettable that the Congress did not support installation of a secular government in Uttar Pradesh by not backing the SP.
"The Congress and the BJP are birds of the same feather as far as their approach to communalism is concerned," Singh told a function in Azamgarh.

Meanwhile, senior SP leader and former union minister Janeshwar Mishra claimed that the Mayawati-led coalition government would "fall" the day the chief minister expanded her cabinet.
"Several BSP, BJP and Lok Dal MLAs are in touch with our party and will come out in open support after the much awaited cabinet expansion," he told a party rally in Sidharthnagar district.
