Hyderabad, June 16: Congress legislator C K Jayachandra Reddy, arrested in connection with his alleged involvement in the kidnap and murder of the son of a local TDP leader, was today remanded to two-week judicial custody by a court in Chittoor town of Andhra Pradesh even as the TDP-sponsored bandh entered the second day. Reddy, alias C K Babu, representing Chittoor assembly constituency, was sent to a sub-jail at Srikalahasthi town along with four of his followers allegedly linked to the murder of Y Ravishankar, a 20-year-old engineering student and son of TDP leader Rajeswari Choudhary, police said. Recovery of the half-burnt body of Ravishankar from the bushes near Palakur village, about 20 kms from Chittoor town and the subsequent arrest of the opposition MLA and his associates yesterday created a sensation in the district.
Police claimed that the legislator had reportedly confessed to the crime. Along with Reddy, his bodyguard, driver and two others were also arrested.
