New Delhi, Nov 28: The electoral prospect of Congress is "very good" in all the four states where assembly elections will be held on December 01, Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said today. Shinde, who has been campaigning for his party candidates in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi during the last few days, told reporters here that the response of the people towards his party was very encouraging.

"In all the states the position of Congress is very good," he said.

Shinde said in Madhya Pradesh, though there were some complaints regarding the electricity supply, voters were happy with the social change brought about by Chief Minister Digvijay Singh through Panchayati Raj institutions.

Asked how many seats his party would pocket in Madhya Pradesh, he said he had not made any assessment in terms of seats so far. He also said the people were very happy with the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan as the Chief Minister has done a lot of good work in the drought hit areas apart from ensuring power supply and education facilities.

Accusing BJP of dividing society on communal lines, Shinde said Congress believed in secularism and in giving equal opportunity to people from all sections.

He cited the instances of a Christian being the Chief Minister in Kerala, a backward heading the government in Rajasthan and an Adivasi and a Dalit holding the reins in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra respectively.

"Because of this reason people are attracted towards Congress," he added. Bureau Report
