Mumbai, Nov 04: A special court today dismissed the bail petition of Saquib Nachan, prime acccused in December 2 Ghatkopar bomb blast case and deferred till November 13 the bail plea of five other accused as they were not produced due to lack of police escort in view of prince charles' visit. The bail plea of nachan, former member of banned Simi, was rejected by designated judge A P Bhangale who observed that there was no merit in his contention. He gave liberty to the accused to challenge his order in the high court. Nachan argued that the police had not filed chargesheet within the stipulated 90 days and hence he was liable to get bail by default. Prosecutor Rohini Salian argued that police had sought permission from the court under POTA to file chargesheet after 90 days and Nachan had been heard in the matter. Five other accused -- Imran Rehman Khan, Dr Mateen Shaikh, Muzamil Shaikh, Zaheer and Mohammed Altaf -- were not produced before the court due to lack of policemen on escort duty. Hence their bail plea was deferred to November 3 on a plea made by their lawyer Parvez Memon. In another development, an application was moved before the court urging for a direction to police to file a report on whereabouts of accused Khawaja Yunus. The petition, filed by his father, said the accused was missing from police custody since February and police were unable to trace him. The court has deferred the matter to November 13 on a plea made by public prosecutor Rohini Salian. Bureau Report
