Mumbai, Oct 09: Film director Abbas of Abbas-Mastan fame, who had directed the controversial movie ‘Chori chori chupke chupke’, was today examined as a witness in the case pertaining to alleged nexus of Bollywood with the underworld.
His evidence was adduced in-camera by special public prosecutor Rohini Salian before designated Judge A P Bhangale, presiding over a special court set up under Maharashtra Control of Organised Act (MCOCA).
The case of the prosecution is that ‘Chori chori chupke chupke’ was made by film producer Nasim Rizvi alias Rajasaheb and financier Bharat Shah at the instance of Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel.
All the three were equal partners in the film, the prosecution has alleged on the basis of telephonic talks between them recorded by police in 2000.
The text of these talks have been produced by police before the court along with the chargesheet. Abbas and Mastan allegedly figured in the talk between Rizvi and Shakeel. They have been referred to as ‘jodi’ (Pair).
