Kohima, Oct 29: Maintaining that dialogue is the only way to resolve the boundary issue with China, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said "things are moving in the right direction" on the Sikkim front. "Dialogue is the only way to solve the boundary question. As far as Sikkim is concerned, things are moving in the right direction", he said at a press conference before leaving for New Delhi at the end of the three day visit to Nagaland.

On the border issue, he said talks were going on with China and both sides had appointed representatives to carry out discussions. Both sides had already met once and the next meeting was being planned.

Referring to Chinese goods coming into India, he said these goods could come legally and illegally and they had not affected the Indian economy. Under the WTO, some steps would be taken, he said, adding initially there might be some problem (for Indian industry) but India would have to withstand the competition and prove the quality of its products.

To a question on Defence Minister George Fernandes once describing China as the "greatest enemy", Vajpayee said Fernandes had clarified his statement and he had never said that China was greatest threat. "India faces no threat", he asserted. Bureau Report
