Ahmedabad, Oct 17: The Pota court today rejected
the bail application of four persons accused in Godhra train
carnage while scheduling its order on a similar application of
seven more for October 27.
The bail plea of Ahmed Abdul Rashid Hathi, Inayat Abdul
Sattar Junaid, Asif alias Billa Siddiq Kader and Junaid Farouk
Hayat was rejected by the Pota judge Sonia Gokani after the
prosecution argued that there was a prima facie case against
all of them.
Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) H M Dhruv said there was
a strong prima facie case against all of the accused,
including the four, and that letting them out on bail would
pose danger to the society.
He argued that the nature of the crime, its impact on
society and their individual role was serious and that
releasing them on bail would be a setback to the investigating
team.
Based on the merits of his argument, Gokani rejected their bail plea and scheduled her order on remaining seven accused persons' bail plea for October 27. Bureau Report
