Patna, Sept 05: A day after getting the go ahead from RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav, film maker Prakash Jha's controversial film 'Gangajal' was released here today to a huge rush of people. The two cinema halls where the film was released witnessed long queues this morning to book their tickets in advance.
The week-long logjam over the film which followed a spate of violent protests over the naming of the villain allegedly after Chief Minister Rabri Devi's MLA brother ended yesterday with the RJD leader giving a clean chit to the film after a meeting with Prakash Jha. Rabri Devi's legislator brother Aniruddh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav was also present during the meeting. He said he had also seen the movie and there was nothing objectionable in it.
RJD workers close to Sadhu Yadav had vandalised the two cinema halls here last week to protest the film maker's alleged attempt to match the character with their leader (Sadhu Yadav) and stalled the release of the movie. Peeved over the violent protest, Jha himself visited the state capital and convinced the RJD chief that the villain had no likeness with the real life Sadhu Yadav.
He also organised a special screening of the movie at a theatre here yesterday to drive home his point. Bureau Report
