Hyderabad, June 08: Three Railway employees including a zonal engineer (signal) of Guntakal division were today suspended on charges of negligence that caused derailments of passenger trains recently in South Central Railway (SCR).
Talking to reporters here the Union Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya, who held a safety review meeting in the context of the four derailments including Chennai-Dadar Express in the last fortnight, said "it has been decided to take more safety measures to prevent recurrences of such incidents in future".
Of the derailments occurred between May 25 and June 6, three were caused due to human error while the fourth one involving the Adilabad-Mudkhed train occurred due to sheer negligence of the contractor whose truck had hit the running train killing two persons and injuring 11 others, he said.
With a view to taking effective safety measures in the Railways, he said it has been decided to impart training to staff freshly inducted into "safety categories" of the Railways besides regular refresher courses.
