Lucknow, Dec 20: Uttar Pradesh's first film festival, dedicated to legendary cine personality Raj Kapoor, was inaugurated by the housing and urban development minister Lalji Tandon here. Speaking on the occasion Tandon assured the film fraternity of all possible steps to help the industry.
The organisation 'Film Bandhu' had been set up to encourage film production in the state, the minister said last night. Tandon also payed tribute to Late Raj Kapoor remembering the artist's remarkable contribution to the Indian film industry.
Welcoming the guests on the occasion on behalf of 'Film Bandhu', information secretary Rohit Nandan said that government would encourage production of films which provide education and healthy entertainment to the people. Members of the Kapoor family- Randhir Kapoor, sister Ritu Nanda- and actress Padmini Kolhapure were also present at the function.
A show of 200 rare photographs based on the life of Raj Kapoor and prepared by his daughter Ritu Nanda and a special documentary titled 'Raj Kapoor Speaks', were also exhibited on the occasion. Bureau Report
